The Legend

The Legend

In this temple of epics and mystiques, Lord SreeParameswara and Devi Parvathy shower blessings in the form of KIRATHA MOORTHIES sharing the same seat, which is its rare peculiarity.

During the penance (thapas) of Arjuna Lord Sree Parameswara and Devi Parvathy appeared in front of him in the form of Kirathas. It was then an Asura called Mookasura send by Duryodhana came as a swine to kill Arjuna. Both Kirathamoorthy and Arjuna arrowed him simultaneously and it died. It lead to a quarrel and then war between them, to prove the ownership of the fatal arrow. Amazingly all the arrows send by Arjuna turned into flowers as a result of the curse of Devi. Being fedup Arjuna started wrestling and was tired soon.

The Legend

Arjuna made an idol of Sree Parameswara in clay and did poojas which made the Lord pleasant and he took his original form with Devi Parvathy and blessed him with the holly arrow named 'PASUPATHAM'. Actually the drama was planned to conquer Arjuna's pride.
