ManjaNeerattu is a special offering presented by the devotees to Devi who come in mirth after the Meena Bharani aarattu. For this, more than 20 proxies take woe and wear bracelet from the flag hoisting day. After bowing the Guru, accompanied by stories of Mutharamma, prayers, lullabies vilvpattu and pambamela , proxies shower flowers and bath in the hot turmeric solutions by dipping arecanut inflorescence in the small and large vessels kept in plenty in front of the shrine.
The solution is prepared by boiling turmeric powder, ashtagandha powder, rose water, saffron flowers, secretion of civet and perfumes in more than 30 vessels. The devotees apply Manjana(a paste of turmeric and saffron in oil) on the proxies.
Even from distant areas people come to take part in this festival. Inflorescence Manjana and Payasam are given to the devotees as prasadam. There will be food supply or annadanam for all who are present on the flag hoisting and the Manja Neerattu days.
The temple closes after ManjaNeerattu. It is believed that Devi will go to Kanjipuram which is her original place or MoolaSthanam, appointing her Bhoothaganas for the security of the temple. Reopening is on the 3rd day on which Devi is suppose to come back.
